Blackjack Strategy

Playing blackjack at online casinos for real money can be extremely rewarding for several reasons. Firstly, it is one of the games with the lowest house edge. This means that real money blackjack offers players a higher chance of winning than most other games. Secondly, the game involves a certain amount of skill. This allows you to increase your probability of winning against the casino – if you develop your skill.

Another aspect that can give you an edge over the casino is the basic blackjack strategy. This provides players with moves that are suitable in typical situations – provided, the probability of it bringing in losses in the long run is low. Here is the basic blackjack strategy for hard hands and how best to apply it:

Single Deck Blackjack Strategy

A hard hand in blackjack is one that does not contain an Ace. When you have a hard hand with a total between 17 and 20, stand irrespective of the dealer’s hand. When you have a hand with 16, 15, 14 or 13, you should stand if the dealer’s hand is between 2 through 6 and hit if it is between 7 to A. When you have a hand with 12, and the dealer has 4, 5 or 6, stand. But if you have a hand with 12 and the dealer has 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, T or A, you should hit.

If you have a hand with 11, double, irrespective of the dealer’s hand. If you have a hand with 10 and the dealer has between 2 through 9, you should double; but if he has T or A, you should hit. If you have a hand with 9 and the dealer has between 2 through 6, you should double; but if he has between 7 through A, you should hit. If you have a hand with 8 and the dealer has 5 or 6, double; but if he has between 2 through 5 or between 7 through A, hit.

Multiple Deck Blackjack Strategy

The correct blackjack strategy for hard hands in a multiple deck game is the same as that for a single deck game if your hand is between 20 through 12. It changes when you have a hand with 11. In such a situation, you should hit the dealer has Ace. If you have a hand with 10 you should double if the dealer has between 2 through 9. If your hand totals 9, you should hit if the dealer has 2 or between 7 through A, and double if he has between 3 through 6. If you have a hand with 8, you should hit, irrespective of the dealer’s hand.

How to Benefit from Basic Strategy for Blackjack

  • To gain maximum benefit of the basic strategy, you should use it consistently and accurately.
  • The possible actions it presents are the best among several alternatives – as proven mathematically. The actions are selected on the basis of probabilities and odds.
  • Though the strategy may bring in losses at few points in the game, don’t discard it. By ignoring the basic strategy, your winnings will decrease in the long run.
  • Remember that a few strategies for single deck games are different compared to those for multiple deck games. Keep this aspect in mind before using the strategy.
